I failed. I haven't really but I still feel like I did. I don't really want to make excuses but I have done absolutely nothing for the last three days. In my defense, we did have a couple of New Year partys and the gym had earlier closing times and all this put together made potatoeing a lot easier.
Now with this said, today is the second day of a new year. A year that will me marked with the acheiving of greatness. Later today I'll be meeting a fitness coach/nutritionnist. I'll be happy to share suggestions and meal plans right here. This is the second week of my kickass challenge and now that the holidays are officially over, I'm going to make the most of it. New year, same goals, extra kick of motivation! Today at the gym I had a full body workout. I started off with a moderate 15 minute treadmill warm-up where I realised my legs are still pretty much dead from yesterday's run. Still went through with it though, it's the dead lifts and squats that wrecked me after. Now, 3 hours post workout, sitting is hard, standing is hard, walking is hard, stairs are completely out of the question and in a couple of hours I'm going to a friend's party where we'll be taking out the old Dance Dance Revolution mats and I have no idea how I'll manage kicking her ass with my awesome dancing skills. I think I might have to forfeit and just sit this one out.
I'm really pushing hard for my two week challenge but I still want to be smart about it and not hurt myself which could result in a forced break. Two days in, slowly thinking I might have bitten off more that I can chew, will probably drop a couple minutes off my cardio tomorrow, we'll see. #StayingMOTIVATED Would you believe I actually did it? Of course I didn't nail my two week goals inside one day, I had a little offset cause of an unplanned appointement which stole a couple of my precious hours.
Gym day two was a cardio session. Although my program is flexible and doesn't force a specific exercise or training time, I went all in and did a full hour of HIIT treadmill. High intensity interval training (HIIT) is proven to be an effective way to build muscle and lose fat. Now I'm really no athlete and gave my 110% through this workout, but did intervals of about 5 minute walks for 2 minute runs with occasional 1 minute sprints. I used my 5 minute rest walks to really focus on my breathing and drop my heartbeat down to about 150 bpm. I hit a max of 190 bpm after the running part. To keep me motivated, I followed the Mirrors Edge story on the Runtastic app. Sad thing is that they only have one episode of that story so far and other story modes must be purchased. I got cooking also following the tips on my Dymatize app. I have a bunch of lunches ready all including veggies, carbs, grain and protein. I'm not too stuck up about portion control yet so I'm kinda eyeballing everything. My boyfriend got us a meeting with a nutritionist next week, so we'll have a little more information on how to specifically manage our food in regards to specific weight lost goals and different body types. So far so good! It's the holiday vacations here and my little girls are away at daddy's house for the next two weeks. Not having to wake up at 6:00 A.M. to speed get ready and not miss the bus is a great chance for me to get some good rest and focus on myself. I love my little monsters to death but I do appreciate the occasional time alone.
December 27th marks the first day of my two week kick your ass and get shit done challenge. I'm going to be a little intense these two weeks and really aim for massive results. I'll be following the 'Transformed - by Dymatize' plan from bodybuilding.com which includes a full workout program for the next 12 weeks and cool videos to help better understand nutritional guidelines. I saved the program to my Bodyspace app to have all the workouts on hand at the gym and to track my workouts and weights. I really recommend you download both apps and get to work! For this two week kick-ass challenge, where I do have a little extra time on my hands, I'll be hitting the gym everyday, twice a day when possible to get an extra cardio training, I'm going to hit the reset button on my house and get rid or so much crap that cause our lack of space to properly put away the things we actually use, and I'll try to put a little variety in our healthy meals that consist at this time of chicken, rice and vegetables. Now let's hit the gym and get ready for day one! I think the easiest way to reach your goals is to set the bar just high enough at different intervals. I've found a pretty cool program that I can easily follow with apps on my phone based on a 12 week transformation plan so I'll build my objectives around that 3 month delay, we'll get to that later, maybe we can do it together!
My lifestyle transformation is based on three different objectives: excercise, nutrition and organisation. Target 1 - Exercise Exercise is already a small part of my daily routine, however I have to admit that although I do go to the gym almost every day, I don't always give my 110% (me being a lazy ass and all, I kind of quit when it gets too hard.) But I'm always proud of myself for actually going and doing a little botched workout instead of nothing at all. My main goal is to really focus on my training and see considerable results on the given check-up dates. I did take before pictures that I may choose to or not to share at some point. I also do have a smart scale to measure my weight and body fat but those are not the results I want to focus on. Right now, climbing two sets of stairs at a 'hurry I'm fucking late' speed requires about 4 minutes of cool down to catch my breath and be able to speak normally, and I can carry a total of just about 4 grocery bags at a time. I'll focus on strength and cardio training for the first part of my 12 week plan. Target 2 - Nutrition This will be the hardest part. With a busy schedule filled down to the last minute, having a balanced diet is one hell of a challenge. I want to find a way to simplify my plans and eat healthy meals and snacks daily. I'm going to cheat, I know I will. I love sweets way too much. But I'm working on figuring out how to healthy cheat, I'll be getting back to you with this! Target 3 - Organisation I already got a little head start on targets 1 and 2, target 3 is a big one for us. I couldn't find a word that represents 'clean up your shit'. As I write these words, I currently have 6 baskets of unfolded clean cloths piled up just about everywhere, another pile of dirty clothes on the floor near the washing machine who is full of unwashed cloths and the bedroom floors are probably covered with laundry as well. The dishwasher is full, the counter is dirty, and something smells like burnt gunk in the oven. We're not completely disgusting and unsanitary I assure you, we do do basic cleaning once a week, but it seems that after two minutes of having my back turned, magic happens and the mess comes right back. Target 3 implies that I motivate the troops and that everyone in the house pitches in to follow daily mess picking up routing cause mommy is tired of being the sole housekeeper. We'll see how things go after part one: My two week kick your ass and get shit done challenge. Now it's your turn, tell me what motivates you and set a couple of easy reachable goals for yourself... come on, you got dis! I ain't no fool. I've known that there's a problem with my lifestyle for a long time now. TBH, I'm a lazy sack of shit. I love my couch more that anything and I know that the hours I spend there, mindlessly scrolling my newsfeed, playing with my cat, watching tv and napping gets absolutely nothing done. Yet I spend so much time complaining about how much my house is a mess, how much I actually feel tired and depressed all the time, how I can never find the motiviation to do anything and am late for work basically everyday cause I put everything to the last minute. I've decided to stop complaining and to do something about it.
I've been working out a couple of days a week since october, so I at least got that working out for me, which is nice. But now it's time to kick it up and really focus on transforming not only my body, but every other aspect of my life. |
